Here's something else I thought of . . . If cutting down the arrow increases the spine, then how do you know what the spins is after cutting it down. Is there some graph or mathmatical way to determine this?
I'm shooting 27.5" draw and arrows are cut to 28. Axis arrows. I was told that if you shorten the arrow, you stiffen the spine.(?)
Well, even if you do figure it out, mathmatically speaking, what exactly are you going to doabout it? You typically only have severalspines to choose from. If you cut an arrow down .5 inches then more than likey you will still have to use the same spine of arrow. With bows today it is probably better to shoot a stiffer spined arrow.

Besides, arrow chartscombine arrow length and draw weight to determine thedesired arrow spine. If you are between arrow spines I would personally go with the stiffer wall. To each their own ...

If I remember correctly, the stated arrow spines are at 29 inches. So that means if you go shorter the spine is greater as there is less room to flex. If you go longer, the spine decreases. I will sometimes shoot a longer than needed arrow to get the arrow to spine out just right for my setup.

My spine is around a 440 and I can obtain that by playing around with the tip weights and the arrow length, all while trying to keep the desired FOC.

I found it alot cheaper to purchase an archery program which allows me to try different adjustments to my arrow and see the desired effects long before I even cut an arrow. The cost of the program that I purchased is alot cheaper than a dozen useless arrows......

as long as the arrow is the right spine for the poundage and drawlength of your bow, any bow can be tuned and shot with any arrow as far as i know
I don’t agree completely with this. Some arrows do notfly as well as others. You have to look at arrow consistence with in a set of arrows. Like spine, weight, straightness and over all quality of an arrow. This all play a part in good arrow flight.
Now I would agree that if you use any good quality arrow that is spined right you should be able to get it to shoot well, if bow is tuned right.
yes i do agree with you... i managed to forget that part haha

My goal here is to buy some new arrows (leaning towards the carbon Express Maxima in 350), have it cut to my desired length, and maintain the proper spine for my set-up. I'm also switching back to 125gr heads.
