RE: wb causing vane wear?
Rob, yer gonna make me blush......
LOL....thanks. |
RE: wb causing vane wear?
I love the WB and 2 inch Blazer combo. I used Bohninhg wraps and platnium glue and couldnt be happier:D.Its a great spot and stalk rest, zero threat rest.
I put a dot of super glue on the front tip of all my vanes. Good luck;) |
RE: wb causing vane wear?
Not saying anything against the WB directly. They have their points and advantages.
Just any time you have something pushing thrua "brush" like a vane thru a WB you are going to get friction and some distortion. If you like the rest otherwise, expect additional vane wear n' tear compared to a prong or drop away and use a sturdier vane like a Blazer to limit it. ('Course you could change to a dropaway and get rid of it completely. :D) |
RE: wb causing vane wear?
My feathers take a heck of a beating with the WB but it is something I accept with the advantages of it! Not sure how it is on vanes but on feathers wears them out in a season!

RE: wb causing vane wear?
I think I will stick with the WB and eventually make the move to blazers. Thanks to all who replied. It is appreciated.
DW Oh yeah MOBOW... the hair dryer thing seemed to help somewhat, thanks. |
RE: wb causing vane wear?
Drop away arrows rests are better in my opinion becuase of the non-contact of the vanes. I personally don't like the WB. At one time I used the WB, but after having to refletch all the time, enough was enough!
|
RE: wb causing vane wear?
I am finding that I have to refletch due to the WB . My incoming arrows are tearing the fletching on the arrows in the target . I have shot arrows with a fletch missing and shot bullet holes .
Oh yeah , another drawback . I must be losing at least 3 feet per second due to the fletching contact !  I have been using a WB for over 3 years and wouldn't change .........[:-] |
RE: wb causing vane wear?
normal wear and tear.......................... lol i love the wb. it dont cost much to refletch i use the tape and bohning quantum adhesive on front and back of my feather no problems also use the wisker biscut no-snow on all my feathers great setup fo me
|
RE: wb causing vane wear?
Yes it beats my feathers up too. But I use my own turkey wing feathers so after each season I re-fletch, using the new ones for hunting and the older ones for practice.......[8D]

RE: wb causing vane wear?
Caution: Really dumb question from an inexperienced archer who has never used a WB.
Has anyone ever tried cutting away some of the "whiskers" to form "pass throughs" for the vanes so contact is less of an issue? |
