If you can give me a few more specifics I can get it right on for you.If you have an arrow weight and speed that you now are shooting it will be more accurate.Or tell me exactly what kind of arrow and I can get the weight.Arrow length(shaft only),point weight, type fletching,4"or 5".Feathers or vanes.Chrono speed is better but not neccesary.

How long are your arrows, shaft only,no nocks or points.

Do you want to use a rope loop or off the string.

Measure from the string to the back of the grip at full draw,Mathews draw lengths are sometimes a little off.

What kind of speed are you looking for or are you looking for heavy,I would reccomend something in between,340-400 gr.

I like the nitro stingers and my program doesn't have them on it.Mine weigh 356gr and penetrate great. They also make heavy ones as well. www.nitro-stinger.com

TFOX,
the bare shafts are 28 7/16 Im shooting 2213 xx75 ultra lites with 125gr heads total weight 476gr I cronohed it at 230 with this setup. and its only giving 56ftlbs according to bojakson's chart I would like a little more energy if I can get it and a little more speed wouldnt hurt my feelings much either. my draw lenght is 28.75 acording to the measurment you asked for Im looking for a good hunting arrow for deer&turkies Thanx again Don

Default RE: Question for TFOX

Assuming that the arrows are 28" long with 4" vanes and also assuming that the draw is correct on the bow,27.25 from string to riser.I also used a rope loop.

Some arrows I came up with are:

Easton Evolution 400-100gr point-424gr at 250fps with 10% foc

Carbon impact Ultra fast 600-100gr point-360gr at 268 with 12.2% foc

ICS Hunter 400-100gr point-394gr at 256fps with 11% foc

Carbon Express Terminator 4560-125gr point-437gr at 247fps with 11.6% foc

ICS Hawk 400-100gr point-375gr at 264 fps with 11.4% foc

The best XX78 I came up with was the 2216 with 125gr point,weighing 534gr at 225fps with 10.3foc

2314 XX78 was also good
231fps at 505gr with 125gr point with 11.4 foc

The measurements can be critical and using a loop does make more of a difference than you might think. Also how far behind the hole in the riser is the rest.

we were typing at the same time.Is the 28.75 from the string to the riser?

yes 28.75 is from the grip to the string the arows are 29.25 from u of nock to bare end of shaft and I do use a rope loop. the rest is about 1/2in back from the mounting hole that is to the tips of the prongs. I hope this helps

Do you realize that is a 30" draw bow, just as I suspected with Mathews.

What kind of vanes are you using, the speed you give seems a little low for that weight arrow.Has the string been changed from the factory string?

Default RE: Question for TFOX

First off let me say forget the other arrows I posted.

I will say that the bow at 62# (is the scale correct) and the draw you gave me should be capable of more speed than you are getting and that will give you more energy.I suggest taking it to a shop and having the cam looked at to see if it is rotated right or if their is some kind of interferance. You are producing less energy than I am with a true 28 1/2" draw on a similar setup. You are 1 1/2" more on draw and that doesn't sound right to me.If it checks out to be right then I have some arrow suggestions for you.

Other than the Nitro Stingers these are the best I have come up with.
Useing the same length and fletching.

ACC 3-39(100gr point)388gr at 252 fps with 11.8% foc around 54 ke

Redline 460(100gr point)265 fps at 340gr with 12.8% foc around 53 ke

a 2214 would be better for you than the 2213 even though the 2213 was perfect on spine. The thicker wall will give you better penetration.

A carbon arrow will give you much better penetration when setup right than aluminum. It is almost like gaining energy when going to them.

If you can use a 28" arrow I have 8, 3-39's that would be perfect for you if you put a 125gr point on them.245fps at 412gr.I really like ACC's and they would do great for you.
I would take $50.00+shipping if interested.Email me.

I dont know how to check the timing as I am am turned to down to 62 on a70lb bow. i'm trying towork my way up to 70 by the time I go elk hunting in 2003. the only info I have seen is the timing mark should be level at full draw at full draw weight. I am going to the shop tommorow and I will double check the speed and see about timing. AS for the arrows the shortest I can shoot is 28.5 which is to bad cause I like the price!
