Default Grayling Jig/ Arrow length

First off I was wondering what everyone thought of the Grayling Jigs. Just starting out in the (DIY) fletching world. Second and foremost. I shoot a Bowtech Allegiance @ 65# with a 29" draw length, with a whisker bisquit. I shoot a mix breed of arrows as I am not totally decided yet. I lean on the easton axis st 340, even though I should be shooting a 400. My question is my arrows are 29 " long. When I draw my bow back Icould probable shorten my arrow by an inch or inch and half before I even come close to the whisker. Can this be done or do I need to stay infront of the shelf. Any info would be appreciated!!

As far as the Grayling jig, I have one and it works great. I didn't drop a ton of money and it has flethed hundreds of arrows with no sign of malfuctioning.

As for the length of your arrow. I tend to like mine about 1/2" away from my rest. I know some people like 1" and some like it in front of the shelf. Really it is just a personal call.

If you shorten them up a bit it will help with the spine. I use a grayling and love it. One tip that was given to me by gibblet, was to put a light film of bowstring wax on the clamp. This helps keep you from getting a heavy buildup of glue on the clamp. If you dont use the wax it is a pain to get old dried up glue off the clamp. Have to use a razorblade.

I too have the Grayling, manly cuase it was the cheapest one in Cabela's archery catalog, cuase i was just starting out,, i have had it for around a year now and can say that i am not disappointed with it at all, i have had almost no trouble at all, and the trouble i had was very minor and fixed in a few seconds,,(mainly user error). if u are just getting started u should look at it, cuase if u find that u dont like doing ityou didnt spend a whole lot on it. As for the arrow length it would just be your prefference(sp?)

I might have to try the thing with the wax, never thought of that, Thanks Sharkey

i believe i've read from somebody on here that if the point of your arrow is past your wrist you'll get better accuracy.
