I like the sounds of that Samson.....I used to shoot 85# but had a hard time finding bows in that weight range.....this intrigues me....a 600 gr arrow going 260-270fps!!! I like the sounds of that!!!!

BTW...folks...that 350 FPS for the BKII low brace is with a 29" draw..not 30"!

I commented on them over on another post you left but I thought I would mention here as well that I am excited to see some of the new specs/options.

I saw some key words that I would like further clarification on though....

Dual cams, lighter, more brace, faster. This is approaching MY vision of the perfect bow. The line forms behind me.

WOW! Looks like all the pleading and moaning I did worksI'll have to try it on my Wife! It looks like a great line up for 2003 with more options and speed with less weight. Dosen't look like I was too far off the mark on the Patriot I was wishing for. Can't wait to see um "in the dip", thanks, Russ.

Why the range of IBO speed specs, ex- BKII short- 342-350 fps?

What am I missing?

Using KE= VxVxW/450240, that BKII is putting out over 95#s of KE! Holy Crap!

Is it shooter friendly? If so, what a log pusher that would be.

Rangeball, The extra speed comes from being an inch shorter in brace height. The 2002's were the same way if you compared say the 30" short brace BK2 versus the Tall brace 31" they shot the same speeds. same as 29" short versus the 30" tall etc., etc.

Also take note folks that the brace height is now 1/4" longer on both of the BK models than they were in 2002. And yet they retained the same speeds....

The Patriot, Pro 40 Dual and the BK share a new cam for 2003.

Bowtech shooter, that speed explanation left me still confused. What does the BKII short brace do at 29", the 350 or the 342?

Sorry I missed the question. BowTech doesn't advertise one specific speed. They advertise a minimum and maximum. Every bow gets tested before it ships from the plant and if the bow doesn't meet or excced the advertised speeds it won't get shipped. It gets torn down and rebuilt until it meets the specs.
Every bow is shipped with a Factory Test Sheet (birth certificate) if you will. On this sheet the Test weight, Draw length, Tested arrow weight, Serial Number and speed it shot are documented on it.

I hope that clears things up for you....

What does VFT stand for??? I know it's probably a really dumb question. But I assume it has more horizontal limbs like the Patriot. (Vertical Force Technology???) Just a guess....Anyone shot the the Samsons? How's the draw cycle on the 90#?

Sheesh! Can you say speed?!?! You're going to have to wear thermal protective gloves to shoot those things.

RE: Well, here's what's new from BowTech for 2003...

Before I get a bunch more emails I'd like to make a note. The 2002 single cam Patriot has a different limb length and deflections than what the 2003 Dual will have.

VFT is Vertical Force Technology

I'm very impressed with the speeds and specs of the Pro 40 Dual!

I'm swamped guys I'll try to answer if and when possible.

RE: Well, here's what's new from BowTech for 2003...

I told ya it was gonna be worth it folks!

Last year was the first time in many years that I could remember that I wanted at least 4 bows from one manufacturer...And that was Bowtech. This coming year it's the same thing.

Of course I'm really looking forward to the Pat DC, and I REALLY wish I had one now so I could hunt with it (My season has not even started yet) but I'm also looking forward to the wheel bow..that thing should be awesome for spots and 3Ds. Smoother draw, incredible speed...that'll feel mighty nice after 20 targets or so.

Y'know now I think Pat (Dinan) should be made to post the infamous "pic" now. I don't have it anymore (deleted it by accident).

Ausie might have it ..but I think he needs to ask Pat's permission.

RE: Well, here's what's new from BowTech for 2003...

Hey folks,

Here is some info straight from Kevin at Bowtech (uhm the guy who designs the bows)This is a quote of a post he did over at the Bowsite.

"Yes, the grip has been changed for 2003. More narrow throat and a less rounded heel. Also .125 off the riser from front to back. The bows are also 8 to 10 ounces lighter. New cams and mods, smoother draw with a little more speed 2-5 fps, with higher brace heights for the single cams. New risers, new bushing material, new cable slides, new sand pocket design. New dual cams that are smokin fast, smooth draw, 70% effective let-off, cable tuners, and a solid wall. 350 fps with a 6 3/4" brace on Black Knight. Patriot Dual 7 3/4" brace 340 fps low recoil and vibration, feels like a Patriot during the shot. New ES VFT 6 5/8" brace 333 fps with low recoil and vibe, vertical force limb angles. P40 Wheel 7 1/4 brace, 38" axle 312 fps @ 70# 30" draw, with an energy wheel. BlackHawk for 03 28 7/8 axle, 8" brace, 2.85# mass 317 fps."

OK, I don't know when Pat will post the pic..but here's the story...

He get's back from Oregon hunting with the folks at Bowtech..emails me that he took some photo's of one of the new Prototypes...

So he starts going over the specs...New camo, the innovative shelf area, new string and cabling...he starts telling me all the details, and says as soon as they are developed he will send them to me...So he takes forever to get em developed....I was going nuts waiting for the pic...I was like a little kid on Xmas. So when I got the pic, I was totally blown away...he's stringin me along like some kind of prissy pants cheerleader I used to chase around in high school....

Anyhoo..just wait to you see the pic...it's unbeliveable...

Thanks alot BTS...... I hope you don't mind if my wife calls and has a little talk with you about this. The 02 Patriot was the perfect bow in my mind and I was happy. Then you had to go and come out with the DC Patriot and now I got to buy another bow. My wife is not going to be happy with you

To be honest I didn't think Bowtech could top the Patriot. I haven't even considered getting a new bow until now. But I am glad they did

You all just had to see the reply email I got back from JeffB after the joke was over.

It sure wasn't very nice...LOL... But funny as hades.......

The Dual Cam Patriot will look pretty much the same as the 2002 single only it has Dual Cams (that's a no brainer) it will have a new grip, one inch longer limbs and it WILL NOT have the Sand Trap Limb Pockets nor will the Extreme VFT.

It WAS unbelievable..he had me Hook, Line and Sinker...I mean bad...

I was having the WORST day ever at work, and FINALLY he sends the pic..builds it up some more, I'm out of my mind w/ anticipation as I fumble to open it up..

When I opened that pic...my jaw not only dropped to my desk..it rolled off and hit the floor...

And then I started Laughing...LOUD...I got a couple looks from some of the VP's who sit near me...

I laughed the whole way home in my truck...it was totally worth it because it made me forget all about the horrible day I was having..I told Pat when I see him, he better have on some light clothes, and running shoes, cause he's dead-meat if I catch him...

Ausie, yeah I know...he told me he told you...

All in good fun...

Now what I really like about the prototype is the natural camo pattern .

I almost fell off my chair when I opened it with laughter of course knowing how Pat had built it up to you.

I wonder whats going to be instore for you before next years line up comes public

Ausie-guy, Trust me those two bows don't need the Sand Trap limb pocket. They're may have been an engineering reason too I'll find out.
My guess would be because the bows don't need it (they shoot very smooth w/o it) so why add the extra weight...

Well heck Jeff...if it was a jpeg or bitmap then I wouldn't have any problem posting it. I just don't have a program that will convert a MS Works style document to a picture format...

Oh hey , I didn't mean any offense..just that I tried the same thing..I, for one, appreciate your efforts! :)

I think Pat was looking around to see if he could get it converted..that was what I was implying.
