My order is for a'03 DC Patriot, sorry for not specifing(sp) that. I plan on it being a dual purpose bow 3D/hunting.
If I get BRAVE, BOLD, CRAZY, or just plain lose my mind, wife will definitly kill me when and if she finds out, I might get a 2002 BKII withthe tall BH, or maybe the pro38. I doubt it happens though!!

Ya know....I am going to have to talk to the administrators to see if I can get them to list a new forum rule....

No using the "M-word" in a serious discussion of archery equipment!

Thanks for the warning Pat...<img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>

Sag--

I'm here to stick up for you my friend! <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle> (just a little late)

I too, now which bow works better in MY hands, having shot all four brands named in this post so far. My conclusions are--

1) Doesn't matter how fast you go past! If you can't hit what you're aiming at, speed means squat.(this coming from a guy who has played the speed game for many years)

2) Recurve limbs are smoother and more responsive than straight, split limbs, well, we won't even go there! <img src=icon_smile_shock.gif border=0 align=middle>

3)Tolerances, and attention to design and detail, along with top-grade materials and parts, make the bow. (along with geometry that is accuracy-oriented and designed to fit a wide variety of people)

4) Popularity is fun as you get to be part of the crowd, but that does little for you if the bow S's the bed and you need stuff repaired and the company is backed up seemingly forever. A bow that has the company stand behind products 100% and gets sutuff out with speed and precision is that one that will win that race. Need the overall combination to &quot;make the grade&quot;.In all fairness, the guys at Bowtech DO stand behind their stuff, too.

5) Like I said,I've shot them all, and know which one I'll choose, thanks.

C'mon, Sag, we'll have to go to Bedford this year,I'll come out of &quot;retirement&quot; if I can break away, (still can shoot a decent 3D score on my worst day, it's like riding a bike) and we'll show them what it's all about.<img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle> We'll get Pizonarcher, RobVos, Field 14, and BlackFrog to go too. We'll have a ball! <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

But we should make it a point to stop by the Bowtech and Hoyt and Mathews booths while we're there so they can look closer at the winning design. (we may have to run when they start shooting at us, tho! <img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>)

Yep, this is fun, isn't it?<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle> <img src=icon_smile_tongue.gif border=0 align=middle> <img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>

This could actually happen, I need to see Ken anyway for business in the spring, and that alone could give me the excuse to break away! Hmmmm, we'll have to see. Pinwheel 12

So now we have to argue with Sag. and Pinwheel, Great...Welcome to the thread of fun Pinwheel...I've been wondering if and when you chime in here...What are you saying possibly a pack of Merlins at a 3-D shoot? That wouldn't be right would it?...Are they built to withstand the rigors of being outside?...Just so you know I am totally kidding you...Secondly Joe, brought his SuperNova by the BowTech booth at the IBO Worlds for me to see...I must say it's a nice looking bow and seems to be built well too...We didn't even think about shooting at him just because he didn't have a BowTech in his hand. Well maybe the thought did cross my mind for a second..lOL..

FWIW, A lot of folks that did stop by the booth didn't have one in their hands until they entered the booth and started shooting the bows. Same as with the Rascal game. We even had several top pro's playing our game so they could win a Rascal for their neices and nephews....All for fun....

Moonage, I knew you were just ribbing me. I didn't take any offense if you thought I did... I just have to make sure I express in some of my posts that I am joking or some poeple get all offended...I try hard to be funny most of the time just ask JeffB about it....<img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>

Sag--

I'm here to stick up for you my friend! <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle> (just a little late)<hr height=1 noshade id=quote></BLOCKQUOTE id=quote></font id=quote><font face='Verdana, Arial, Helvetica' size=2 id=quote>

Oh C.mon PW..you are here sticking up for Merlin, Not Sag <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

<BLOCKQUOTE id=quote><font size=1 face='Verdana, Arial, Helvetica' id=quote>quote:<hr height=1 noshade id=quote>I too, now which bow works better in MY hands <hr height=1 noshade id=quote></BLOCKQUOTE id=quote></font id=quote><font face='Verdana, Arial, Helvetica' size=2 id=quote>
As I and others who shoot Bowtech, Hoyt, Mathews or any other brand have found out as well<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

<BLOCKQUOTE id=quote><font size=1 face='Verdana, Arial, Helvetica' id=quote>quote:<hr height=1 noshade id=quote>1) Doesn't matter how fast you go past! Played the game for many years too (not as many as you, but enough). If you CAN hit what you are aiming at, the point is moot.

<BLOCKQUOTE id=quote><font size=1 face='Verdana, Arial, Helvetica' id=quote>quote:<hr height=1 noshade id=quote>2) Recurve limbs are smoother and more responsive than straight, split limbs, well, we won't even go there! <img src=icon_smile_shock.gif border=0 align=middle><hr height=1 noshade id=quote></BLOCKQUOTE id=quote></font id=quote><font face='Verdana, Arial, Helvetica' size=2 id=quote>

I'll agree to a certain extent, however I find the gap between the two with modern materials not be a major factor like it once was. Certainly not enough to influence my purchasing decision.
<BLOCKQUOTE id=quote><font size=1 face='Verdana, Arial, Helvetica' id=quote>quote:<hr height=1 noshade id=quote>3)Tolerances, and attention to design and detail, along with top-grade materials and parts, make the bow. (along with geometry that is accuracy-oriented and designed to fit a wide variety of people)<hr height=1 noshade id=quote></BLOCKQUOTE id=quote></font id=quote><font face='Verdana, Arial, Helvetica' size=2 id=quote>.
Agreed. I've found the tolerance of Bowtech, Hoyt, Martin, Darton, and a few other companies quite good, and certainly more than adequate. At a certain point the returns for going overboard are not seen in the end results. My Merlin, as well as the two Max2000's I shot did not shoot in hands any better than any other brand I have tried. Nice bows for sure, built like a tank, but IN MY HANDS, the felt &quot;funny&quot;, so I didn't shoot them well (or I should say, any better). That's all that counts. I think the key point here is that it's the shooter , NOT the bow. assuming a quality piece of equipment.

<BLOCKQUOTE id=quote><font size=1 face='Verdana, Arial, Helvetica' id=quote>quote:<hr height=1 noshade id=quote>4) Popularity is fun as you get to be part of the crowd, but that does little for you if the bow S's the bed and you need stuff repaired and the company is backed up seemingly forever. Absolutely..Bowtech overnighted a new bow to my dealer when the shipping company destroyed my first bow.You would never see that from most of the other manufacturers!

C'mon PW what's wrong with being part of the crowd and enjoying the company of people who have the same tastes as yourself? <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle> we do that in every aspect of life, why not archery? <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

<BLOCKQUOTE id=quote><font size=1 face='Verdana, Arial, Helvetica' id=quote>quote:<hr height=1 noshade id=quote>5) Like I said,I've shot them all, and know which one I'll choose, thanks.<hr height=1 noshade id=quote></BLOCKQUOTE id=quote></font id=quote><font face='Verdana, Arial, Helvetica' size=2 id=quote> Me too. <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

<BLOCKQUOTE id=quote><font size=1 face='Verdana, Arial, Helvetica' id=quote>quote:<hr height=1 noshade id=quote>Yep, this is fun, isn't it?<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle> <img src=icon_smile_tongue.gif border=0 align=middle> <img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle><hr height=1 noshade id=quote></BLOCKQUOTE id=quote></font id=quote><font face='Verdana, Arial, Helvetica' size=2 id=quote>

Jeff-

The only thing is, I shoot back! Can still run OK, too! <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

And, like you said, it's all in whatever you like, personal preferences, I agree with you on that totally.<img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>

The rest of this stuff is just for our entertainment! <img src=icon_smile_tongue.gif border=0 align=middle> <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

And yes, it's OK to be a part of a group, but it has to be the RIGHT group! We seem to differ a little there! <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle> <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

Regardless, it's all in good fun, and is a great sport we are involved in, wouldn't have it any other way... good shooting Jeff!<img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle> Pinwheel 12

Speaking of which....Where is BlackFrog? I haven't seen him post for ages. I thought he was using a Darton for hunting? If I don't see him soon then I fear he might head the same route that &quot;Tom Sawyer&quot; went and vanish from the forums forever...<img src=icon_smile_shock.gif border=0 align=middle>

You guys play entirely too nice...<img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>. Oh yeah, I forgot, this isn't the fight-site....<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

We can very easily take this to the fight-site to continue our &quot;bickering&quot;...Over there we can get downright nasty too...<img src=icon_smile_evil.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=icon_smile_tongue.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>
