I had a dozen fleched recently (6 feather and 6 blazers) and found my feathers and blazers hitting in the same place out to 40 yards. If it is dry I hunt with the feathers if it is wet I use the blazers. The group sizes are about the same but the feathers seem to be a little more forgiving if I make a mistake.

This season I am back to hunting with feathers. Just a little more forgiving than vanes......for me.

Vanes on my XX78's. On my setup, the fly better, especially when wet.

I found the same results as Scott with feathers vs Blazers. I have a 4 arow quiver and carry 2 of each. If I have also found feathers to be a bit more forgiving with my setup. I did also do an experiment this season and used the Gateway waterproofing powder. I was hunting in the rain one afternoon and the feathers stayed dry. It was a steady soaking rain, so believe me, we all got wet, and the feathers looked no worse for wear. I still carry 2 Blazer fletched arrows, but I always grab my 4" feather arrows first.

Guys, bottom line, if you like what you have, don't change. If you are curious, spend a few bucks and fletch a few up with feathers and try for yourself. I honestly believe if you do try them, you will be pleasantly surprised and the benefits of feathers. Then, when you are sold on them, watch ebay for good deals, I found a bunch last fall for a song.

Have fun,
JMAC
