New Stringleeches flew off!!!

RE: New Stringleeches flew off!!!
The old ones are not durable for sure, the Kevlar are MUCH better, but even then I have found that the lack of durability on the originals is worth it to me. They may not last as long but I've found leeches to work better than a normal size pair of whiskers on my setups, unless I put 2 or 3 sets of whiskers together on each end (and lose 10 FPS in the process).
I have found on certain strings, Hoyt and some other non-twist design strings especially, they will fly out on occasion..the whole thing...I tie them in on those strings when I install them now. It seems that the more vibration there is in the string, the more often this occurs, which obviously makes sense. I ahve not had the need to tie them in on my bows w/ WC strings, though I have had them fly apart (like "normal". I've had a set of the Kevlars on my BKII for about 2 months now, not tied in, with no problems or fly aparts.
Leeches and Limbsavers are 2 products I personally can't live without (at least til something better comes out)

RE: New Stringleeches flew off!!!
Hello,
If you have problems you can always call the factory direct and ask for warranty. Our number out here is 1-877-257-2761.
We have had different shot life per different bow set-ups with the leech. We will for next year have an improved leech design. We are moving more toward the leech being a hunter only product designed for the few shots before and during hunting season. When I shot my elk this year he didn't even know what hit him. I have had animals spooked by the noise of my bow, but he didn't have a clue. I have been recommending the use of something else on your bow until hunting season and then switch to the leech so you know that you are getting the quietist shot possible.

Wow. They are watching us! <img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>
Thanks for the # Chris. I didn't realize there was a warranty on leeches.
I'll call and let you guys know what they said.
P.S.
If you need anyone to test your new design let me know!

RE: New Stringleeches flew off!!!
What happens is the string cuts through the leech. Here is how I solved the problem. Take 2 pieces of 3/4" length of rubber peep sight tubing and slit it lengthwise. Now wrap it around each half of the string and install the leech between them. To help visualize what I mean think about the foam insulation used on water pipes. It is a tube of foam that is slit lengthwise and installed over round water pipes.

RE: New Stringleeches flew off!!!
Thought you guys might find this interesting. I just called the number that SVL tech (Chris) had left for me. When I told them what had happened the guy I spoke to on the phone said he would send me a set of their new improved string leeches to test them out. I love it when companies do stuff like this! Especially when I get to try out something new for my bow.
Thanks SVL!

RE: New Stringleeches flew off!!!
I just got the new proto-type string leeches from Sims. They seem to be made out of a different type of material (they are slightly darker then again it could be made out of the same stuff. I should have asked). They look basically the same except they added a liitle more beef to where the strings hold them on, basically elongating the little spot between the dots.
If I can I'll put them on tomorrow and let you guys know how they do. I'm kinda bummed they didn't send me a new stabilizer or some other neat stuff too.<img src=icon_smile_evil.gif border=0 align=middle> <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle> I guess I'll have to go buy one like everyone else!
