Ultra Nok vs String loop
 

Which do you prefer and why? I ask because I tried an Ultra Nok but noticed some slight wear on my release jaws. Has anyone used one long enough to see it wear down the release? I like the benefit of it aligning the peep without the use of the tube, however I do not want to wear out my release. Some insight would help.

I shoot off the string and use a "tubeless" peep. As I said in another post I like the string loop also. I wouldn't want to use an ultra nock just because the weight has got to cost you some fps.

I've used both and like the string loop simply because it is lighter and cheaper. I never experienced any of the negatives you hear about the Ultra Nock (I had the XL). Other than it was heavy. I also used a rolleraid release so wear was not a problem.

Now I use a string loop with a release designed for it (small hook on the end with a short head).

I also have a fletch hunter 3-D release if I want to shoot right off the string. It has a larger smoother curve on the jaws so it doesn't damage your string. Kind of a pain with a loop though, hence the new release specifically for the loop.

Many have had their string break right at the ultra nock , I would not consider putting one on my bow .

Is this something you have heard, or actually seen? I have never seen it myself or actually met anyone that it has happened to. Mine showed no wear or any sort when I used it. Nor did it ever come loose like I hear people talk about.

I have seen string loops come off though.

I have used both and prefer the string loop. The string loop is much lighter so it will have less impact on your fps. Also, i often here metal to metal contact when some of my buddy's attach their release to their nock. I know i wouldn't want to riskthe bruiser under the stand hearing it.

I would recomend using a string loop. Much lighter and also a lot quieter while shooting. One of my buddies uses the ultra nok and it is so noisy!! I don't like them at all!!

I would most definitely suggest a regular string loop over a metal nock loop. The metal loops, in my experience, tend to wear on the release, slow down arrow speed, produce more noise and can potentially nick your cables.

A properly tied string loop has none of those issues.

Loop all the way. You will a little loose speed with a ultra noc. I have seen it cut a string first handbut the guy put a lot of torq on those little screws most likely caused the problem himself. I don't know about wear as I only shot it for a day or two on my bow and then went back to a loop. Some of my buddys love them and other like a loop. Matter of person opinion I guess.
