RE: Ultra Nok vs String loop

After haveing a string loop come untied last year when draw on a deer i decided to try the ultranock(XL) and i like it a lot. I had no problems with it,, the only wear i could tell was that the paint wore off wear the jaws set on it,,but had no sever wear on anything,,,the only downsides i found with it is that it is heavy as other have said and they will make your bow louder,,do to the extra wiehgt in the center on the string
just my .10

I agree with what silverhawk said. A metal loop will make a bow a lot louder. I personally use a d-loop, but I've given my self a bloody mouth twice with it [:@]. Hands down, go with the d-loop. But if you see start to wear, even just a little bit, replace it. Unless you particularly enjoy being busted in the face by your own fist! ;)

I use the string and would never veer from it. My friend used an ultra nock and quickly went to the string. PABowhntr said "can potentially nick your cables". My friend had his drop away rest broken (NAP) and the only thing he and the feller at the pro shop could come up with was the ultra nock.

I have used a loop,an ulta nock, and the XL,I had serving slippage with all of them.I have found the best of both worlds it's called a speed loop.It will align your peep,You could break a loop, and not lose your nock point. It doesn't put pressure on the serving so there is no slippage. It's not noisy either.Hope I helped.:)

i just wanna say i never had any problems as far as grouping or fraying in many years of use on the ultra knock. noise is WAY OVER EXXAGERATED. i dont notice loosing any feet per seconds and it has a nice feel as far as locking my release to a solid hold on the string. truth be told on this site i have seen many more loops come apart than any complaints about metal 'd' loops", it just plain works. if you notice any complaints that come about are of a casual user who switched back for unknown reasons. unklike myself i have logged many hours on both. after saying this i say both work well its up to you to decide. you say potato i say potaato[&:]

I have been using the same Ultra Nok XL and Truefire X-Caliper for years without any problems. There is some wear. I don't shoot as much as alot of people tho. I am thinking of trying a string loop with a new release this year. I might choose to switch back if I'm not impressed.

if your release is showing wear, and you go to a string D loop. make sure you get your Jaws on the release filed down smooth. If you don't the Jaws showing the wear will cut the string loop and you will punch yourself right in the face.

Been there done that. good luck....

RE: Ultra Nok vs String loop

I agree with all. I say this because of my current experience with both. I've shot the D loop and had to replace 3 because of wear. As cheap as it is to replace the loop it is bothersome. I currently have the U-N xl and love it. I haven't noticed any loss and check my Nok before and after every shooting session. There is no specified torque requirements posted for instalation so use discression. The precautions I have taken is that I have wrapped the mounting area with a 1.5 inch piece of silicone/rubber shrink, then mounted the U-Nxl using the supplied hardware. Over Kill maybe, but siding on the cautious never hurts. Most of you if not all have much more experience than me. I've asked questions and read posts from here and recieved great advise. I like what I currently have and have suggested it to friends. I've also informed them of what I have read here and the precautions I've taken. Just be smart and take in all info you read here and do what you feel is right for you and your set up. Hope it works out for ya. Happy Hunting.

The string loop is the only way to go. If it's tied on right it will align your tubless peep. As long as it's tied on right it won't slip either. Just make sure you got it on right and you won't haveany problems. It's like I told people when I worked in the pro shop, ultra nocks are metal. Enough said.

Masterdriver:

The reason your loops might wear out so fast might be due to the fact that your release aid is older and the jaws are more worn. Older release aids tend to cut the d-loop pretty quickly.
