Jeff,

If I know you, you'll buy both anyway so if you do you should probably get the Hoyt first because once you have the Allegiance you won't want to get rid of it.;):D
Ok Smart@$$...just for that I'm gonna buy a PSE [:@]

And pay attention buttmunch!...who said anything about me buying an Allegiance??

yeesh...

Get a recurve, Jeff!;)
That would be simplest and the best(Tho I prefer longbows)...I just dont have the kinda time required for proficiency with such a weapon anymore Art. :(Barely have enough time to shoot a compound and remain "skilled"

And I saw that little comment there Mr. Broadhead Test. [:@]

Jeff,
I shot the 2005 models of both the Ultratec and the OG this past spring. One difference is the grip. Very different on these bows. Of course, you can change either once you buy it, so that is not really a big factor. The draw on both was smooth, but different. They peak differently, so it isa matter of personal feel. The c.5 adjusts, the EQ does not. In my limited testing, the EQ was more efficient. Better energy transfer using different arrow weights.

Bottom line, I liked both. I ended up with the OG for 2 reasons. 1) it was $200 cheaper than the Hoyt (really, it was) and 2) the Bowtech dealer is just better.

I have never looked back. I love that bow. I am shooting better than I ever have.

Hey JeffB....I guess I'm one of those idiots that buys a new bow every year but what the heck you can't take it with ya.:D:D

Seriously though I do switch bows alot and I make sure to try and shoot everything out there before I do and you won't go wrong with either brand..I don't have any experience with the OG and never shot it because it is longer ATA than I like. I did however have the X-Tec which is similar to this years V-Tec and I loved it. I had no problems out of the c.5 system and it shot extremely well. Smooth draw,Soild wall,No hand shock, and very quiet.

I have shot Hoyts for the last 4 years because I just wasn't picking up anything that really caught my attention or shot as well.

Until this year I switched to Bowtech...I am not a pronounced Bowtech Man but this new Allegiance I got is very sweet. The new equalizer technology had me interested and is why I decided to try one this year. It might not be quite as quiet as my Hoyts were but man is it a shooter. I shoot this bow better than any I've owned. It has a nice consistent draw IMO and avery soild back wall. I notice very little hand shock and it is blazing fast. I have a short DL and have never owned a hunting bow that shot over about 265-270. Well this one is pushing it out at 305-308 or so. Its just kinda neat only using one pin out to 30yds. Well just my 2cents...Good Luck with your decision...:):D

Thanks Russ..

I guess my question now is..

Would you havea suggestion as to ways I can improve my Kinetic Energy for hand launched arrows if I *do* get out to the woods this fall?
Those would be know as SPEARS,, very effective at VERY short range, very durable and you won't develop target panic:D

3/4 inch rebar will yield the best K.E.:)
Now wait a minute...Do you mean to tell me you could hunt African Lions with a spear and NOT have target panic?. You da man Russ...:D

Pat,, while hunting lions with a spear,, the spear would simply indicate the spot where I turned and RAN back to the Landrover

Yes, the spear would also mark a steamy corn laced pile of dung that the big bad lion would ultimately slip and fall in breaking his neck making for another wound free harvest. :D:D

I went through the same situation. I ended up with the Hoyt Vtec
I saw that Chris. That is 3 bows now that I have known you. You are getting as bad as Jeff...or at least as bad as Jeff was....;)

Yeah, but with the original single cam style....;). I like the PSE idea...better yet, go Browning. I hear that new Illusion is da bomb.
