I use Aluminum xx78 Super Slams in 2117. I literally just drew my bow back to see what I could hear. I heard a very quiet noise. A deer would NOT be able to hear this 35 yards away, heck, I would be willing to bet he wouldn't hear it if he was under my stand on the stillest of mornings while he was looking at me. A deer's ears are no better than a humans. What you can hear at 30 yards, is the same thing he can here at 30 yards.

I disagree Dairy, I believe their hearing is much better than humans. The videos I've seen where the deer heard the arrow draw were sponsered by whisker biscuit. I know one guy here in Maine that used to get free arrow rests from them, but now he won't even use one because of the noise they make.

If it works for you, then I wish you good hunting.

Maybe I'm wrong, I dont know. But, I do remember reading in, I think, Outdoor Life that deer's hearing is no better than a humans. I dont know, Im just repeating what I read.

You are kidding right! If nothing else compare the size of a deer's ears to yours ( hopefully the deer has bigger ones, sorry couldn't resist that). A deer has hearing many times as powerful as a human's. That and thier smell is basically what keps them alive. Any extra noise is a big problem when hunting big game. Deer are very vocal animals who bleet, grunt, blow etc. Hearing is crucial.

i only us the biscuit, as for game having better hearing than us, that is true! but i know it didn't help the elk i shot last year at 32 yards! shot right though her, all she did was spin around and look where the shot came from! i didn't move and she never saw me!

if an elk didn't hear it than a deer will not, oh and i have shot 3 deer with it. one as close as 15 yards. and no spoked deer in 4 years!
i will never hunt with a another rest!

.02 for you

I find it interesting that someone tossed a bisket for an APA because of noise becuase I know several guys who have gone the exact opposite way. I have both a normal shoot through APA and a Bisket. The bisket is much quieter than the APA but most of this has to do with what arrow I am shooting that day. The Blackhawk arrows I have are loud with any rest, something about the finish on them while the Nitro Stingers are quiet in any rest I pull back on. Put a little silicon on your arrow, won't matter what rest you are using for the most part...

I've been reading all the replys. I'm almost convinced in buying a Biscuit myself. What is the benefit over the Cobra that I already have on my bow? And can I get one to fit my standard riser?
Thanks Chuck

I've been shooting the wb for a couple years and the only time noise was a factor was when my buddy bought the small wb and the thing was dragging the length of the arrow when he would draw--i had another wb with the large hole,we switched,no more noise on the draw!He was happy about that and i was just happy i could help him out.:)So what size are you shooting?I think they could do away with the smaller size.jmho.

Actually the APA twister only contacts the arrow for about 2 inches of the draw and shoot cycle, the bisquit contacts the arrow the entire draw and release, so its virtually impossible it could be silent. When the felt tape is used there is absolutely no sound whatsoever from a twister. My bisquit always made noise and I had both size inserts to play with. Not knocking the bisquit, I loved the thing, it tuned easily and was foolproof. But it makes noise even the manufacturer says so on thier website.

When a deer reacts to the drawing of a bow, we don't know if they heard it, or if they saw it. Their eyes are incredible at seeing movement and with eyes on the side of their head, they pratically have a 300 degree field of vision. Sometimes, we make assumptions about why they react. In fact, it could be coincidence that human scent arrived at their nose at precisely that moment. Or, even that something else attracted their attention and they looked in the bowhunter's direction.

All I can say, is that my WB makes very little noise when I'm drawing. It's of absolutely no concern to me. I can barely hear it, and I'm only 2 feet away! I've also drawn on quite a few deer that were inside of 10 yards while using a WB and they had no reaction. I've heard that on certain arrow brands, it makes more noise and I've been told they become a bit quieter after you've shot them for awhile - not something I've noticed but mine doesn't make any noise to speak of anyway.
