Arrow puller
arrow lube
allen wrench set
pliers
quiver to hold arrows
drink/water bottle
binos
shot placement cards
lil clip board to hold score cards
pen, card punch, pencil
And a metal detector to keep in the car/truck... to go back looking for lost arrows after the shoot

You don't need a bunch of gear on your first shoot. A set of 8X binoculars and a quality arrow puller are a plus. One very important item is to shoot at a distance that you are comfortable with. Many new shooters figure they must shoot at the marked stakes. You know, the mocho thing. You end up trashing a bunch of arrows and for what. To enjoy 3-D shooting start at ranges you can estimate and move up from there. You will learn over time to estimate the longer yardages and have a good time. You will also bring your gear home in good shape. Shoot and enjoy.

I just bring a quiver and a drink. (...ah, simplicity)
...but I only keep score for myself.
For me it's just fun , and I compete against myself, but not too seriously.
I just use it for hunting practice, and to sharpen my range estimation skills.
I show up, pay my ten bucks, shoot the bull, shoot the course, shoot the bull some more, then grab some grub.
Shoots are a great place to meet folks, and trade stories and tips.
