Acetone is an Organic solvent. As stated it can be bought just about anywhere. Other post are correct in that it will eat most plastics. It will also eat many paints and other componds. The nice thing is that it evaporate extremely fast and for cleaning oils etc off can be applied very specifically.

Most nial pollish removers are a combination of alcohol and acetone so if you select nail pollish remover be wary.

i would agree that alcohol or one of the less agressive cleaners for a bow. If your more specific on your end use I can make recommendations.

Methanol works better and is less abrasive.

The reason I ask is because I've heard people used that to clean arrows, and on the instruction sheet for my Arizona E-Z Fletch, it says acetone will not hurt the plastic on it. So I figured I would just clean the arrows, fletch 'em up, then clean the jig with the same stuff.

Comet or Ajax cleanser with hot water works very well in preping arrow shafts. Rinse with hot water also and dry the shafts with a clean paper towel. I just wipe the base of the vane with a clean and dry paper towel also a few strokes once the vane is in the jig and glue up with Fletch Tite

I have used denatured alcohol and it works great and also evaporates quickly. I checked at my local proshop and they use it also. They also use a strong % of regular alcohol. What do you all think of the denatured stuff? Good, bad, ugly?

Use the swabs, $2 for like a million of them!

Any finger nail polish remover has it, but I would not use finger nail polish remover because it usually has nail conditioners in it. You can get purer versions at any drug store. I order mine through my lab.
