Tanned skins versus powder (borax)
This is a hot topic lately, the taxidermist using dry preservative,(dp), swear by it, a fully tanned (leatherized) cape/skin I believe is the only way to go when longevity and quality is concerned. Of course dp has its positive sides, its good on birds and some small animals, but keep in mind it does not "tan", taxidermy companies still peddle it as a "preservative" consisting mostly of borax, and sell tons of the stuff. If you are still using dp on your game heads, consider moving up to a fully tanned skin/cape, you will not be disappointed.

David,everybody is in a big hurry,these days,as you know? DP is quicker,for a person to do,but,as you say,it is not as good as tanning.
I will not start a battle here,but i would not care to have anything DPed other than a squirrel.
