Default learning taxidermy

What would be the best way to learn taxidermy, is it possible to learn on your own, maybe from videos only?, how much will a single mount cost me to do myself, supplies and all...thanks, andything else added would help also

It is possible to learn that way. That will get you the " Jist" of what it's all about. However, IMO,after you have done a couple on your own,the only way to get better is to be critiqued by more professional taxidermists. Get all the reference photos that you can on the animal that you are mounting, and do your best to make the mount look as close as possible to the photos( eyes, nose, ears, etc.). Join your state taxidermy association, and at the next state show, enter your mount into the " Novice" class. Here, it will be judged and critiqued by both World and National class taxidermists, based on your knowledge of taxidermy ( Novice). They will then go over your mount with you, show you what needs work, what looks good and give you priceless advice on how to do better next time. Each state show usually has different judges every year, so you will be getting advice from all different views of taxidermy, not just one.
