Best way to ship / pack a mount
#1
Was hoping someone in this forum could give me some pointers or things to avoid when trying to ship a standard deer mount. Long story but my animal got picked up from the taxidermists to take a trip to the hunting camp to admire for the season and now my brother is stuck wtih it 800 miles away.
If he wants to ship it too me, what other advice do you have besides make sure its in a big enough box and be extra careful with the ears?
Its my first ever and I don't want to have it damaged.
Thanks a bunch for any help you could provide.

The best way to ship it is to make a wooden crate out of 1"X2"'s , just big enough for the deer to fit in. Run drywall screws through the back of the crate and into the back board of the deer mount, holding it solidly in place inside the crate. You can put the crate inside a box, and ship it that way.
