Default Going to try my own deer mount.

Ok i know this is kind of a broad question but what are ALL the materials needed to mount a deer? i figured i could watch some online step by step videos online and read about them because i have until next year. I was just wondering what all materials are needed and any advice at all would help! thanks in advance. Jake

I would HIGHLY suggest getting a video and watching it numerous times. That will help you understand the process and materials needed.

i can only name a couple of things that you will need off the top of my head

Scaple ( MUST USE ) you cant just use your favorite pocket knife the whole time. Speacialy for capin
gloves
tan ( if doing yourself thats a WHOLE nother story)
freezer
bondo
epoxy
borax(for the antler and then use a dremal to clean the skull cap) you can do it what ever way you choose just make sure its clean so no bugs get to it
FORM
shaver( for the form if alterations are needed)
Ruffer
Carpet knife
Ice pick
Needle
Thread
Stand for the form to mount to
Sand paper to give more detail in places that are needed
tools for tuckin the eyes lips and nose
Sharpe ( never know when you will need that)
And lots of time to get everything right

there is a lot more that goes with mountin but this is just what i can think of right now

Not all of those things are needed. Many of them I use, but some of them I can't think of a single use for, for ME. I mounted my first deer with a pocket knife, a butter knife, and a screw driver. It looked like crap, but would have looked no better had I had all of the best materials. Watch a video and you can decide what you need and what you can do without.
