You keep a deer head before getting it mounted? I have a friend that has had a nice 10 pointer in the freezer for about a year or so.... would it still be good for a shoulder mount or should he look into a euro mount now?

It depends on how well it has been wrapped up. If it was double wrapped in a plastic bag, {which for future reference is really how it should be done if it is to going to be frozen for a long period of time} there probably is nothing wrong with it. A deer head will typically last that long with little to no real damage. He should take it to his taxidermist and let him check it out. Also, most taxidermists will keep a supply of extra capes for just such situations that can be purchased for a small fee. So there's another option that can be looked into as opposed to the european mount.
