Default help with antler art lamp

i'm going to make a lamp out of antlers and have a couple of questions.
1 do you really need to stain the antlers
2 how do you connect antlers drill holes and dowl, just glue, screws
3 how would you run wire in the antler
4 any other tips you may know of

thanks

I've never done one but I would drill holes and use alu. dowels to secure together. First I would figure out how you want them to go together and how the cord would run with the least amount of visibility. Then you actually have to cut a groove in the antler, stuff cord then refill with epoxy or something similar. As the epoxy dries, texture to match existing antler. So you will have to stain the cut areas, just don't overdo it. They sell kits I think but again I have never done one so I am only doing a guestimation. Hope it helps

I have saw them with wire through holes in them, some with dowels and screws.it all depends on what you like.

first I would tie them together with string to get them the way you want , then drill and use real small wire.then cut the string.
