Default Dyeing Deer Hides...

Hi,

One of the flies I tie for fishing Atlantic Salmon is called... drumroll please... The "Green and White Bug." It took us many years and drinks to come up with this name.

Fairly simply made, it looks like little footballs of spun deer or caribou hair. We use, as you can expect, deer hair that has been dyed dark green, light green, and white.

How could I take a deer hide and get this done and where in the process would the dyeing take place (before or after tanning)?

Thanks for any ideas....
