T.D.W. What is your current experience level with trapping and or fur handling? Are you looking to get into it?
I told you this stuff gets deep! You need different stretchers for different pelts some have to be turned inside out some skin side in, if you are serious you don't even want to use wire stretchers use wooden stretchers. I would suggest a video called Fur Handling 2000 by Hal Sullivan.

my expierience level would be zero, but i do wish to get into tanning and what-not. but all i really wish to do is to stretch the pelts and dry them, would a wire stretcher be sufficent?

I would strongly recommend the video that I mentioned, Before you stretch them they have to be fleshed, some hides need to be skinned differently than others etc.If you plan on tanning you just opened up another can of worms..... Get the video.
