Default Black Bear Mounts

When you get a black bear mount done (full mount or 3/4 wall mount) where you can see the pads under the bear's feet is the taxidermist supposed to use the original pads (which were attached and in good shape) or make them from a plaster substance and paint them instead.

That depends. Sometimes the tannery will cut them off, and sometimes the skin of the paw pad gets grease burnt and isnt salvagable. In those cases, theyre rebuilt or replaced, although not with plaster. Normally the taxidermist wants to use the real pad, as its easier. I replicate the pad if its very prominent on the mount. Hope that helps you. Bottom line, if it matters to you, be specific with your taxidermist and let him know what youd like to see.
