Default How long should a mount stay in the freezer

I killed a really nice buck last year. I haven't brought it to be mounted yet because I am wanting someone else to mount my deer than my usual taxidermist. My usual is good enough for my average deer but I wanted a little more detail on my best deer yet.

How long can the mount stay in the freezer wrapped tight in garbage bags?

An intact deer head wont store well. Even inside a plastic bag its drying out, especially around the antler bases, the nose, lips, eyes and ears, especially those ears. If its been caped off and just a cape wrapped tight in a bag, well thats another story. That cape could be good over a year or more, depending on the type of bag and the efficiency of the freezer.

the faster you get it out and mt. the better job you taxidermist can do for you.anything over a year will begin to go down hill fast.
