The term "Shooting up"??

Canyou tell me what the term "shooting up" in a 3d round refers to? I tried doing a search but had no luck.

On a course where X's count as 11's or 12's, when you hit enough of those X's to more than make up for points lost on 8/5/0's. As an example......if you shot a 312 on a 30 target course by shooting 14 X's (counted as 11's), and only one 8, you would have shot 12 up.

Make sense?
