If you want to shoot an Osceola turkey in the old swamps of Florida, then this is it. It took me two years, but I was finally selected for a turkey quota hunt in Gainesville's beautiful Hatchet Creek WMA. I am allowed one guest to come with me. The weekend of the hunt is April 1, 2011 to April 3, 2011. This place is full of birds and they only allow 3 weekend hunts with 5 hunters each on over 2000 acres, so the odds of bagging a thunder chicken are very high. I am willing to trade this hunt for a whitetail deer hunt in a respectable area. The only cost you will need is for travel down to Gainesville, FL and an out of state turkey permit, a 10 day hunting license and a management area permit.
