My dog has smelly ears, the were full of a brown wax and I have been cleaning them daily for a week and giving him ear mite medicine. The brown wax is gone but his ears still have an odor and they look red and irritated on the inside. Do you guys think I need to keep treating for mites or does he have an infection. A friend of mine told me to use a product called happy jacks ear canker powder and his would clear up. Do you guys think I should keep treating for mites a few more days or try the ear canker powder that my friend told me to use? BTW he is a pharmisit and also treat and vacinates animals.

I've had that problem with my dogs in the past, but the medicine usually clears up the ears. Is your friend actually a vet? If not, I'd go see a vet, even though the medicine you've been giving your dog sounds right for the condition you describe.

the main thing is to wash out the ear befor you put the medicine in. that cleand out all the old stuff and get the meds. where they should be.
the canker powder will not hurt anything if its not ,if it is then you are treating it.if not cleared up in about a week to 10 days, then you need something else.

It sounds like your dog has an infection (although it could be a fungal infection). I seriously doubt your problem is earmites. Regardless, you should have you vet check it out. He/she should be able to diagnose the problem and provide the proper treatment.
ps. Jim, the product you are referring to is Otomax
