Hi all. Just wondering about whether or not dogs can see different colors and what not. They make mainly white and orange bumpers and I was just wondering why? I've heard that dogs can't see them too well but I don't think that makes any sense because wouldn't you want them to be able to see them? I could just be all messed up. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Colors of bumpers are wide and varied. For marked retrieves, you DO want the dog to see the bumper. For blind retrieves, you don't want the dog to see the bumper until he "steps" on it. On a "mark", if the background the dog sees is very dark, use a white bumper and not a black one. If the background is mostly a whitish sky, use a black bumper or one that is half-white and half-black. If you are running the dog on a "blind", use an orange one --- you get the picture.

Good article, seems dogs have color vision close to that of deer. They see some blues (violet and blue violet). And can detect motion out to 900 meters. Learn something new today.
