Crossed over

My 10 year old black lab and my favorite camp buddy had to be put down today. She wasn't much of a hunter but a constant companion.. I've had better labs but none as gentle and sweet as her. She will be missed.
Fortunately I have another here right now by my side sensing my sadness. She's sticking to me like velcro.

Sorry for your loss Bronco. There is something about a special pet that leaves a huge hole in ones heart. When we had to put my beloved Fannymae down at 13 I said no more I can't take losing another dog. A short time later after going dogless for a few months I agreed to take care of a dog my vet tech daughter was fostering. She had to go to Seatle on a seminar trip and I was asked to take care of just 1 dog. I was sitting at my breakfast bar having an evening drink when the dog came running in. She was a 4 month old brindle and I knew right then and there she would never be leaving. We have been best buddies now for 6 years and that hole that was left by Fannymae has been filled to overflow.

I’m so sorry for your loss. Losing a loyal companion like your lab is heartbreaking, especially when she’s been such a gentle, steady presence by your side. It sounds like she brought you a lot of comfort and joy, even if hunting wasn’t her thing. I’m glad you have another pup there with you now, sensing your grief and offering that velcro-like support. Dogs have such an incredible way of knowing when we need them most, and it’s clear you’ve built a bond full of love and trust.
