personally if any hunter came on to my land whether it was to track down a wounded deer or if to get their dogs I would not mind. I would just want that hunter to respect my property. No game animal sits down and says " I belong on this side of a fence or border line" so it is understandable. However it would no be prudent to just come on my land hunt and then try and tell me you were tracking a deer which happens more than not.

I'd suggest you read the entire thread. Not a one of us said that we turn dogs loose and let them run all over without a care. We were talking about an instance of where a dog runs a coon across the property line. It happens and will always happen as long as this sport is alive.

I'd suggest that everyone who is whinning about dogs getting shot just conduct themselves responsibly and it shouldn't be a problem.

Reading comprehension is increasingly becoming a lost art, eh 2-Lunger?

Please read this slow and more than once stonewall.
No one said we cut our dogs loose and trespass on purpose. It simply happens from time to time. The coon does not know the boundries and neither does the dog. It will always happen on occasion as long as coon hunting is a sport. Since you read more in a week than the yest of us do in a year, you should be able do comprehend this.

Stonewall is really having trouble with this, isn't he? Let me break this down for him one more time.

Now lets see if you can comprehend this: depending on how often "time to time" is, you may or may not be hunting responsibly regardless of how you put-off the consequence of your behaviortoananimal.

Let me ask you a question stonewall. Have you ever coonhunted with hounds before? If the answer is yes, then you will know how often "ocassion" really is. If not, then you really shouldn't be displaying your opinoins on a coonhunting related thread.
I ran hounds for coons for 10+ years. I can count on 1 hand in those ten years that I had to leave my gun at the fence and cross over and get my dogs. Those numbers are pretty good to me. How often did it happen to you stonewall?

chickenrun, theres been alot said here.dude go by YOUR state laws and do whats right..
i live in va and MY law allowes for me to go get my hound provided i leave my gun and travel on foot.ive had to do it maybe a handful of times without talking to the landowner but most times i try to do so in advance.if i had to drive 4 miles just to go the extra 100 yards to get a dog the extra walk wins everytime, but again my state law ALLOWES it.i let the landowner know later what i did and ive never had issues.
