Puppy Biting
Our new pup is play biting quite a bit. I dont allow any rough housing with him or tug o war etc...
He seems to be doing it more than my last two labs did. It may just be the short term memory. Kinda like how women forget the pain of child birth and decide to have another.
anyways...i have tried the squealling when he does it and holding his jaws together. I have also tried using my thumb in his mouth and holding his bottom jaw for 5 to 10 seconds.
He seems to be getting better but after two weeks he is still doing it. Any suggestions? How long should this take? I know they teeth until the 6-8 month mark.
thanks

RE: Puppy Biting
He bites - flip him on his back and make him lay still and don't let go until he is calm. The more the pup wiggles the harder the down pressure.
I use one finger on the snout saying the word NO. And persistance/constant postitive repitition is what you need. Just keep at it.
Remember at this age they are jut like 2 yr old kids that like to put things in their mouth as they learn. Let him have his own chew toys.
