RE: ***URGENT VIRGINIA HUNTING DOG OWNERS***

I happened to be in the club a couple of years ago one of the SAC members is president of. He trained illegally. When asked why he just said we always have and the state doesn't really care. Club rules were to obey all state and game laws. It meant the ones he felt he wanted to. The training out of season is out of control here in many areas in SE VA.. If you're set up near a bedding area and the dogs run through and run the deer out they're not coming back that day. Your time is wasted. Hard to hit a running deer with an arrow. Then they drive in to look for the dogs. To me it's a lack of respect for others and the law. Not to mention my time and $$$ for gas down the drain to go watch dogs run illegally.
With a little effort on their part it doesn't have to be like this. They refuse to do it on their own so it's going to have to be done for them. I had every Sat but 1 messed up by the adjoining clubs dogs during bow last year. That Sat that wasn't I had 2 bucks come through and took one of them. Why should that have to happen? That's why people have had enough.

I hunt both, and own property in VA.

I hate to beat a dead horse, but many more bad things are done by still hunters than hound hunters, and with some effort it doesn't have to be that way. However, is the solution to that issue tooppose still hunting?

Well at least you have a enforceable law on the books if you catch one of the hoard of still hunters that you claim is invading your property.

Already lots of enforceable laws on the books that can be used to dealwith hound hunters breaking the law. You don't go after a whole class of hunters because your local law enforcement won't do their job in dealing with the bad apples. And yes, there are hoards of still hunters who are breaking the law and acting like slobs compared to dog hunters. Since they can't seem to be controlled by the law, let's ban them too; make a clean sweep of things, ya know.

Really? What law stops deer hounds training illegally when they get stopped and say it's a fox hound and it's legal? Got any numbers on convictions on that law? There isn't any because it can't be done.

You're just another in denial using any means possible to justify why change shouldn't be implemented. Guess all the other states that took measures were misguided as well? I know VA is special and the technical report is flawed and the whole world is secretly being run by AR people who have control over VDGIF and their every move.

What stops a still hunter who is out looking to poach deer from saying that he is actually involved in a legal activity. Now who's in denial?

Either he's legal or not. Can't be both. Still hunters that are illegal have a lot going against them. I would think they get caught a lot more often than they get away. When you see a truck without a dog box or TV antenna you wonder what's up? See one with dog gear and you know it's a waste as he's got the "I'm fox chasing" free pass.

Call National Geographic. It's a new species. A white tailed fox. Surprised they haven't sent a film crew out before now. The hound hunters have been chasing them for the last 10 years or more.
