Default Decided on a Breeding for Our Next Pup

For the last couple of years, we were thinking that we were going to do a repeat breeding of Casey and Berry (Strawberry) and get a Casey son.
After lots of study and deep consideration, we have decided that we will go with a Casey Grandson instead. Could have gotten the son for free as our "stud fee", but we're going to buy a grandson instead. IMO, these pups are WAAAAY underpriced.

The Casey x Berry breeding produced some deep fox red dogs that all have a great genetic point. One of those dogs (Scarlet) went to a PL breeder in Minnesota, David Mork, owner of Sauk River Kennels. David's #1 stud dog is Jake and he is planning to breed Jake x Scarlet (November? - December?) pending Scarlet's OFA results on hips and elbows. I'm convinced that this is going to be one of the finest PL breedings ever.
Jake has asuperb pedigree and is truly a classy PL. Scarlet is CNM clear, PRA clear, Cerf clear and I feel sure that when she turns 2 (next month) that her hips and elbows will OFA fine and dandy.
David says that Scarlet is the finest female PL he has ever had in his kennel (and he goes through a lot of dogs). If they aren't something special, he sells them as Started Dogs.
Take a look. From the Sauk River website.

Yellow litter planned. pending Scarlet OFA results. Scarlet will be 2 yrs old on Sept. 11th.
Both parents are CNM clear, prcd (PRA) clear. CERF renewal scheduled for Aug. 24th.
Scarlet was last in heat in May. We expect Scarlet in heat again in December (best estimate). Sauk River Retrievers will pay you double the purchase price if your dog does not point.

GMPR MHR Jake x
CPR Sauk River Scarlet
(YL Pups).
As of August 14th we have received deposits for 2 females, and 2 males

I have waited for this for some time. In all my work with pointing labs from across the nation... the two best pure pointing labs I have ever see are:

#1. Jake.

#2. Scarlet.

This is in a list that includes my Phoenix, Storm and Misty along with Duke's True Grit, TDK's Thunder of Sauk River and Thunder's sisters Sauk River's Ebony and Sauk River's Dakota. What makes Jake and Scarlet ...(and these others) special on point is consistency, a strong natural tendency to HOLD point, along with a very intense lock on first scent.

Scarlet is a dark red labrador. She has high bird drive, high retrieve drive, A nice balance of initiative and biddability, and a natural soft-mouth. Scarlet is very straight hocked, which is a trait we value more and more as we evaluate successful dogs in the upland. Scarlet is a very very staunch scent pointer. (I'm going to run out of adjectives this year ) She brings a lot of retrieve drive to the table and good overall physical traits.

So, if all goes well, we'll be getting a new puppy in March or April 2008.
This should give us a dog that is well along in training when Casey boy is ready to semi-retire.

One additional note. The stud dog (Jake) got his NAHRA :WR and MHR titles as well as APLA :CPR, MPR and GMPR by the time he was only two years old.
This dog was trained Amish and has never had an ecollar on.
