Pointing Dogs.........just my opinion, but I love to watch a good pointing dog work their birds, hold, and retrieve. The flushing crowd love their dogs as well, but I like the controlI have when working my pointers.

Heck, I could get my Blue Heeler to run around and flush birds. I'd rather work behind a good pointer

if dog points and stays within 30 yds of sproule, that is a dog i could live with..
i hide a grouse feather which i dragged over 300 yds down thru field..
i let my lab loose and he found that grouse wing in 30 seconds..

that was unbelievible to me, i never saw that..
when a lab wants to hunt ,boy, they can cover territory fast...
only problem with lab ,i see, is they tire out in 2 hrs..

pointers/gsp/setters seem to go and go..

i am training my dog early this year,i report back on how long he can go this year...its disappointing to be able to hunt only about 2 hrs...

I have only hunted over pointing dogs (GSP) a few times. These were dogs friends own. Watching a well trained pointer work is a special sight for sure.

I have hunted the last few years with my flushing dog, a 5 yr old Springer. I love being out in the field almost as much as him. He is a dedciated, relentless bird dog and we have learned together over the past few years....that's why he gets my vote.
