Tie duck wings around a bumper and start there. get the dog used to feathers. when the dog will pick this up without reservation try a dead duck again. get the dog excited about the duck while it is in your hand then throw the duck just letting the dog go retrieve eventually start making it sit stay etc etc

you may also need to try scent on the bumper before you use ones with the tied on wings.

Force breaking (or something like that) is not a bad option as well. Check out some training videos from your local library to learn the technique.
