Default Pointing when done hunting

What do you guys do when your walking back to your truck (w/ your limit) and your dog points a bird? Kinda confusing situation. Wouldnt be a bad idea to keep a blank gun handy... just curious if you guys have any good ideas. Thanks!!

Later!

Been there done that, myself, walk in there like it is no big deal, get the bird up, and shoot, miss the bird on purpose, praise the dog for the good job just done. Then there is no missed signals to the dog, all threw out my training program, I will miss on purpose, because you will not kill every bird, every time, I feel it helps keep the dog in focus better. Make sense? Thanks Jonesy

tailcrackin gives a great suggestion. What you don't want to do is call the dog off of a point. That confuses the dog as to whether or not is should point.
