Beeper collar advice needed
I'm looking at purchasing beeper collars for my labs. The labs are well trained to stay within gun range however, in the South Dakota corn fields we can lose track of each others location. I was looking at the Tri-Tronics accessory beeper collar as I already have e-collars and don't need to buy their Upland collar which includes the beeper.
Any feedback about this collar or others would be appreciated.

I have a tri-tronics upland special with the sport beeper. The beepers are super-tuff. You wont have the ability to turn them on and off remotely. I think the audibility is excellent even in windy conditions. I also own an Innotek will never buy from them again. But the best part about Tri-tronics is that they are made in the USA.

RE: Beeper collar advice needed
HunterMag,
I received the collar on Friday. I read the directions about the settings but the collar sounds really loud to me even on the lowest setting. I even did what the directions said to muffle the sound by placing a cotton ball and electric tape over the speaker. I know that I'm a novice when it comes to beeper collars, but does having them that loud damage the dogs hearing?

I am not a vet but my best guess is no. Why? You should position the speaker pointing upward behind the dogs head so the sound projects away from the dog. I just tried the cottonball and electrical tape outside 5 minutes ago and placed the beeper behind my head. It isn't too bad. Beleive me you will want the volume on a windy day in woods or in the field.
