While Illness is always a worry, ...a dogs, like people, metabolism can slow with age. Healthy weight is kind of like a mathematic equation...metabolism x exercise x caloric intake = weight...if you change one factor of the equation you have to alter another as well to achieve the same results. If you are feeding her a high protien/calorie food like Bil Jac, Diamond series foods, whatever, try cutting that food with a weight control or weight loss formula in small amounts at a time until her weight gets back to normal.

EJD22, I have several hounds over 7 years old, and age alone should not be causing a dog to get fat if you are still getting him/her that much exercise. I would check to see if there is another food source (maybe a family member feeding extra?). If that is not the case, I wouldtake your dog to the vet and have it checked out.
