how far in the panhandle? i live in north dallas. i thought that there were some quail leases north and west of dallas about 30 miles. there are some guided goos and duck leases 1 hour south of dallas in the paper, i thought once upon a time i saw some quail leases too. i will keep looking.

I'm in North Dallas too.
I'd love to find a good place thats less than a 2 hour drive.
Like I said, if you find one, let me know and I would love to tag along if you don't mind.

I have 1250 acres, that have a few quail on it around Abilene, 2 hours from dallas, but I think th big boss man is keeping them to himself. I dont think he lets anyone else hunt them, cause that is all he hunts. But around Childress and up in that part of the panhandle is where I know of some outfitters for quail and pheasant and dove and the whole works. But I hope you can find something closer for you.

I saw quail southwest of Gainesville at a ranch that was leased (Type II) by TPWD for dove hunting. But I think they were pen raised and released. I've seen wild coveys as close as Seymour, but I don't know if my dove guy guides for quail too. I saw a "Suzuki Outdoors" (?) on the Outdoor Channel where Weird Will Clark was quail hunting just outside Hamilton, but they were also pen raised birds. All I hear about quail is how there aren't birds around anymore. I see lots in South Texas where the fireants run the show. But I always heard that the ants were the reason that the birds had declined. You can email me if you want and I'll see if I have the number for my dove guide in Seymour. He might could help you, but it's about three hours west of Dallas.
