I saw quail southwest of Gainesville at a ranch that was leased (Type II) by TPWD for dove hunting. But I think they were pen raised and released. I've seen wild coveys as close as Seymour, but I don't know if my dove guy guides for quail too. I saw a "Suzuki Outdoors" (?) on the Outdoor Channel where Weird Will Clark was quail hunting just outside Hamilton, but they were also pen raised birds. All I hear about quail is how there aren't birds around anymore. I see lots in South Texas where the fireants run the show. But I always heard that the ants were the reason that the birds had declined. You can email me if you want and I'll see if I have the number for my dove guide in Seymour.
