I've seen quite a few nice bucks, we seem to be playing games with each other though. I have watched a nice (I counted 10 points) buck, had a great shot on him but he was crossing the beaver damn and there was no way to get him if he was shot there. I have seen him a few times so I am hopefull that I'll get a chance at him. I have also seen a few doe, one seems to be staying right with a younger buck, I usually see them every day but I won't shoot any doe, they keep those bucks around there.
Though I haven't killed anything yet I've had just as much fun as ever
Hope everyone else is having fun

Boy where to start.
First they guy that was supposed to cover my shift for the day b4 opener never showed so I didnt get to camp till after midnight. Then in the AM after I got to area of Public land i scouted I saw a bunch of reflective trail markers right where I go to my "spot". So even though I was there first decided not to chance a fight with a stranger who is carrying a gun and moved off to speed scount/still hunt a different area.
Then my Glasses broke. I have 20/400 vision in my good eye! took a bit of creative engineering to be able to see my way in the woods. That's about when i realized my back was wet. A can broke open in my day pack. Soaked everything including lunch. I decided to go back to the canoe I paddled upstream to drop off the wet weight. Well I had developed a good pounding headache by the time I got there since I couldnt see straight.
That headache turned into a full fledged migraine. I threw up that soggy lunch all over the woods. I decided that it was time to call it a day and paddled back to the boat ramp. Some couple was taking about forever to get their boat in the water and their truck was in the way so I dragged my canoe and the gear in it about 200yds around them so I could leave. I made it to Williamsburg on I64 before I had to stop on the side of the road and throw up on the shoulder of the highway as cars whizzed past.
I finally got myself together enough to drive and got to about the Newport News res. area thats when the worst part happened. I saw a BIG 8pt on the shoulder of the road feeding and having a good time.
I finally made it home and took some medicine and swore off hunting forever.
So far I'd say the season is well,,,,,challenging.
Needless to say I'll be back out in the woods this Saturday!

Go down a few threads and read my post about "ALMOST! - VA hunting" or something like that. I had a beautiful 8 pointer in my 20 yard pin and missed! [
] I went back looking for him and didn't see him (late afternoon hunt). I will go again this coming Saturday.
