RE: Powahatan NWR IN Va
I've hunted Powhatan WMA many many many times. What do you want to know about it?
Powhatan (like other WMA's in VA) is best during the week, as it gets overloaded with hunters on any given Saturday.
Zing me an email and maybe we could get together for a scouting trip at Powhatan.

Another great place that I go to a lot is Cumberland State Forest. It's not as crowded as the WMA's and requires a $10 state forest stamp.

I agree that it's better during the week than on a Saturday, but if you try it out especially once the weather gets cold, you'll have the place more to yourself. I found it better than Amelia by far. Doe days are another story. The place is absolutely insane on doe days. You get groups of people running dogs and I am certain that some of the people they get out there on those hunts barely know one end of the weapon from the other.
