Just wanted to let you all know about my deer hunt December at Barksdale Plantation in . I am from SC and took my father along how rarely hunts. To make along story very short, the first morning of our hunt, my father was given a citation by the game warden for hunting over bait put out by Barksdale staff. He was hunting in a stand he had put in by Barksdale staff before light. The baiting was very obvious. Several piles in the woods adjacent to the food plot. Peanuts, corn cobs, salt blocks, the whole ball of wax. We left the day after this happened at they still made us pay for the entire three day hunt! We did pay, but in retrospect I wish we had not. I wish we had just left.
No apology was ever offered by the Barksdale staff. I guess this makes me more angry than anything.
I am not trying to run Barksdale Plantation down. Just wanted anyone who is considering hunting there to be very careful before they go. I know I won't be back.

That's a real shame to have a trip ruined like that. I've heard about dove outfitters intentionally putting hunters on baited fields to increase their success and therby increase the outfitter's success. In TX, it's not illegal to bait for dove, but you better not be hunting over bait.
