Hey everyone, I'm considering a new job location in the Eufaula Al area. Just wanted to know if anyone can give me any info concerning hunting in that area. I know the fishing is phenomenal but haven't heard much about the wildlife. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks

Hey there brucelit...........I haven't personally hunted that far south, but its not too far from the Black Belt region of Alabama. The hunting is good here in central Bama. The Black Belt region is known for some trophy bucks, but probably not as well as some of the very lucky yankee states. I believe you'll find the game laws in Alabama to be pretty liberal and definately liberal bag limits. Overall, the state boasts one of the best deer herds in the nation as far as numbers. Have you visited down here yet? If not, you're sure to fall in love with the country. I did and moved here after getting out of the Marine Corps. I hope this helps a little. When you get down this way, if you want to take a trip up 65, PM me we'll get a hunt going somewhere.

Thanks Gobbling Buck I appreciate the input. I've read some on the game laws and they are very liberal. More of a variety than I have currently too. We don't have many hogs to hunt here but I'd sure like to. As far as Bama or Auburn I think I'll have to remain a die hard Indiana fan. They don't always perform the way I'd like but I have to stick with em. Thanks again and happy hunting.

I hunted for about 15 years about 20 miles west of Eufaula and it is some of the best deer hunting you are going to find anywhere. It will probably take a year or two to get hooked up with a good lease or club but in the meantime the Barbour County Management area can provide excellent hunting. You can take over 200 deer per year legally............

as a former Alabamian I can tell you it is good hunting there, Eufaula is on the West bank of the Chattahouchee River and just a short drive up HWY 431 is the Eufaula NWR. right on the river and some mighty nice deer have been taken there, Beautiful Country also. Alabama boasts some of the best WMAs in the country and some of the best are right in that general area of the state, best of luck on your move and Happy hunting.
