I left Ark. three days ago...going back for another 10 days tomorrow night. When I left, the bucks were checking their scrapes pretty heavey......what are they doing now.....are the chasing or are they still checking their scrapes?

I' m in Russellville...not exactly south Arkansas, but I found a few scrapes in my woods last week that hadn' t been checked in a few days...either the buck quit checkin em...or the buck that made them got killed.

The rut here in most of the state is past it' s peak now, and should be back in for a second phase in a few weeks...

I' m in Clarendon next to the White River Refuge. From what I' ve seen the last week they are making a lot of rubs and chasing the heck out of does.

l talked to a friend of mine tonight that lives between ElDorado and the Louisiana state line(Junction City/Caledonia). He killed a 6 pt this morning with a 17 inch spread. He said it was chasing does as was several other bucks that he has seen this week.

I got a nice 8pt close to a scrape on sat 8th. with bow of course.

but they have abandoned the scrapes(several days ago) and are now runnin the does. time to hunt the does, and a good funnel would help a lot.

wow! that' s a nice spread for our neck of the woods. I live about 18 miles east of EL Dorado. not that far from where that deer was killed.
