The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) passed a new rule Wednesday in Pensacola Beach that will extend zonal crossbow seasons by a month, thereby running concurrently with archery season, beginning July 2011.

Yes, but I won't be surprised if they extend to public land at one point. That is being discussed.

just like the "new" season dates to where certain zones can finally hunt during the rut....private land only. they will never do anything to benefit the public land hunters.

As far as I know, the season for public land is changing this year to align with private land. I think I read that on the FWC site, but I can be wrong.

If you read the comments sent to the FWC regarding use of crossbow during archery, it was the hunters the ones opposing to that, arguing that more people will be in the woods, that crossbow hunters don’t need hunting skills and other things. In my opinion, is not the FWC, is us hunters, making it more difficult for us. To me we need to support any type of legal hunting method, rifle, crossbow, bow, even rock throwing if it was legal.
