Oklahoma Food Plot Question
Hello, I have a question about a food plot for OK. I live in NE Oklahoma around Tulsa. We have some land about 1 hour east. The ground is very sandy. I would say soil but sand sits on top of it. The ground is like dirt/sand (very soft). Is there a food plot that would grow in terrain like that? If so, what would be best to plant? If not, is there anything I can do to help the sandy ground so I can plant something. Thanks.

What are the farmers planting
I'm from S.W. Okla.
My advice is look around and see what the farmers are planting in that area. They'll sometimes even give you some good suggestions.
If there aren't many farmers around to see what they are planting or to be able to ask.....
I'd suggest planting some winter wheat, possibly some oats and some cereal rye (not rye grass). Oats could freeze out. Wheat and cereal rye should make it and both are easy to plant and very hardy. However, you'll need to plant in early fall Sept. or Oct. to get any growth.
Hope this helps some. Good luck.
