OK folks..a lady whom I work with husband has killed 5 bucks and 2 hogs so far this year ..in a WMA. that is a secret..one hint..It's a 4 hour drive from Lakeland...It's a large WMA and allows alot of hunters.I may try it next year..I saw it driving back home from northern Florida a few months ago..It is not in the pan handle.

I've killed 4 bucks so far and missed 2 while running dogs. I have killed an 8pt during bow season, 6pt during muzzleloader, and a 3pt and 7pt during general gun after i finish running dogs in the afternoon and sit in the stand for an hour. I didnt see much rutting action except around the middle of October. My brother has killed 6 bucks and my dad has killed 5 in the club across the road from the club i'm in. Most every buck they have killed has been chasing does, but the action has cooled down for the past couple weeks now. We have started to jump bachelor groups of bucks while running dogs so the rut is completely over here, which is no big deal to me because i love running dogs better anyway.

Way to go Camo especially in Ocala I am at 5 three does andtwo bucks. Did you ever see any of those buck you got on the cam at the WMA?
1 of the bucks i got on cam was shot by a guy who decided to set up 150 yards from me. he knew i was hunt'n there but didn't care. he shot the one in velvet which grossed over 100" and netted 98". the real big one was never seen during daylight hours, so maybe he'll be there next year.

CamoCop,

That is awesome, three deer!!! And one at Ocala that is suppose to have lower deer numbers. Congrats. I PM'ed you about your Quota at Citrus.

HuntingMa,

Like CamoCop said don't give up. Many places in FL have a great rut in late December. You have to be in the woods to get a buck!

Miller,

Glad you are seeing some deer. If you see does the bucks will show up. Good luck on the squirels. They are so much fun!

Cheers,
Chris
i didn't forget about you, i'm still waiting for our forecasted work schedule to be posted.

i'm still finding active scrapes in Ocala W.M.A. which means their is still some rut'n action going on further south.

went out yesterday morning and had 2 doe's and 1 spike under my stand. i passed on the spike due to already having venison in the freezer and wanting him to walk towards a friend i took hunting with me (which the spike never did).

another buck has fallen to my muzzle loader this last weekend. while hunting Citrus WMA during it's 2nd muzzle loader hunt i was able to harvast a 4pt. the buck had 3 points on one side and just a tall spike on the other side. this makes number 4 for me this year. i am gonna try and get 1 more before the season ends.
