I will say one thing..they are very expensive to use.

The Therma Cell comes with one butane cartridge and 3 burnable mats..That may last 2 hunts maybe 3.

The refill is 6.97 at Walmart. If I didn't have a decent job I'd be using mosquitoe repellent. The holster that holds the Thermacel is another 10,00

They aren't perfect..a couple mosquitoes may get through but overall...they were great.

One refill 6.97 ..one butane and 3 mats.
Holster10.97
Thermacell 22.97

Total$40 .91 ...whick may be good for 6-8 hunts,

Whereas mosquitoe repellent for one month or more .3.97

i saved money and tied a slim leather string on my thermacell, this way i can hang it from my stand without the $10.00 holster. plus i only use mine during "peak" skeeter time (before sunrise and after sunset). i'll put up with some skeeters. i normally get 6 hunts per pad and a butane cartridge will last me a whole season.

Ok.... its official...Santa now knows i want a thermo cell If your steppin and stalking, im guessing it wont benefit ya much as it wont have time to build a "zone" around you before you take your next step. What other repellants would ya recommend for us stalk'n guys? Anything unscented out there? Still getting the Thermo Cell for those tree stand days

in most of the area's i hunt, the skeeters haven't been as bad as previous years so i haven't used the old thermacell as much as i have in the past. i have hunted Green Swamp many many times in the past and i know the skeeters are out far longer there than alot of other hunting area's. last time i hunted Green Swamp the water level was up in the pine tree's in some places. i even had a gator swim under my tree stand on one occaission. i do remember skeeters being fierce all day long in there.

WOW!! That would freak me out.. I did almost step on one once while goingto my stand..and I was once surrounded by 3 big ones when turkey hunting..I saw no snakes or gators this year..Mosquitoes were the worst ever..If you breathed..you were inhaling mosquitoes.

I second the inhale od skeeters. Look at the upside of things, take a couple pieces of bread (white or wheat, up to you) turn off your thermo cell, kill them suckers as they do just that..sucking on you, and within 15--20 minutes ya got yourself a nice skeeter sandwhich....gone are the days of waking up extra early to make ya something to fill your belly for the days huntAs for the gators....only seen onedriving downPowder Roadopening weekabout 5 ft long. Snakes on the other hand...wheeeewheeeee... more watermoc's than i want to think about so be careful if your near water guys. Rattlesnakes, you may get a warning but watermoccisins, notta... and very dangerous.
