Nice boots chuck. I love my snake boots for hunting WMA's. They make me feel like superman, which is probably not very smart on my part. But wearing them does lower my stress level

4years ago I made 2 Florida Wildlife videos..I got over 100 different species of birds, some flowers , butterfies and trees.
I also got some up close footage of huge hogs rubbing against trees..a shot of a doe and 2 fawns...a flock of turkeys. bobwhite quail and a pigmy rattler by my boot.
I also got 2 armidillos nearly breeding on top of my foot

They were climbing on top when I told them to knock it off.[&o]I'm serious.
I did see a huge moccassin once..about 36 inches long but very thick nearly the size of a soft ball.I wished I had video taped him..Mocossin can be different colors according to their age BUT one thing they ll have in common..a light tan eye brow. I'm a big man..kind of fat.
so I have a hard time getting in those tie type snake boots..My Rocky kind from Walmart lasted maybe 2 months. All of Wally's rubber boots leaked with in one day. A friend on here sent me a pair of 50.00 La Crosse ruber boots. They are wonderful. However; I got the zipper up the side snake boots coming.I'm sendng my money order today.
My friend..you can't be too safe. I've been hunting in the Green Swamp 6 years now and have seen 3 pigmys within 5 foot of me..one dead diamnond back...and about 5 moccassins within 5 feet.

Chuck,
I had heard that bubber boots will possibly stop a snake's poison from getting into you. I have 16" rubber boots that I wear. I agree you cannot be too safe to a point. I just want to be sure the money for snake bootsis justified. Anyone else have some snake stories at Green Swamp or elsewhere? I beleive there is on average one snake bite fatility a year in florida. So I kind of think getting bit by a snake is slim. Anyone have any facts or stories?
Cheers,
Chris

I have 2 pairs of snake boots Rocky's and Readheads. Both pairs are lace ups. The Redheads were cheaper and feel better on my feet then the Rockys. I work outside quite a bit doing environmental work. Typically I do not wear my snake boots because I am too lazy to put on. I should look into getting a pair w/ the zipper like Chuck. I just bought a pair of the Alpha Burly rubber boots and they are hands down the most comfortable rubber or snake boots I have.
I saw a rather large cottonmouth, about 4 ft, on Saturday in Green Swamp from about 10-15 ft. He saw me also and threw his head back and showed the white of his mouth to warn me. The cottonmouths and Diamonbacks generally do not worry me because they let you know they are there. What worries me are the pygmies! A pygmy rattling sounds like a fly or bee and is hard to hear. Pygmies would have a hard time penetrating rubber boots I beleive.
Once it cools down the snakes are not so bad and are very dormant when out sunning themselves. I remeber several years ago doing surveys in the Baird Tract and walking through a land mine field of cottonmouths. It was so cold they were not interested in moving whatso evever.
I should wear my snake boots more often this early in archery. I wore them all Spring Turkey.

Actually I just typed in snake boots size 13on ebay and this is the only pair they had ...so I bought them.

I saw a rather large cottonmouth, about 4 ft,That is huge..on Saturday in Green Swamp from about 10-15 ft. He saw me also and threw his head back and showed the white of his mouth to warn me.WOW!!! I would of probably hadan accident .[
]The cottonmouths and Diamonbacks generally do not worry me because they let you know they are there. What worries me are the pygmies! Yeah..especially during turkey seaon when your on the ground..Once I was on the ground and honestly 3 big bull gators were making that looww bellowing sound all around me..I was very concerned.A pygmy rattling sounds like a fly or bee and is hard to hear. Pygmies would have a hard time penetrating rubber boots I beleive. Yeah..I had one striking my boot while I was video taping him..they aint got nothing behind their little strike..Their little yellow tail rattling was cute too.

Once it cools down the snakes are not so bad and are very dormant when out sunning themselves.Exactly..this is prime time for snakes so watch out..I remeber several years ago doing surveys in the Baird Tract and walking through a land mine field of cottonmouths. It was so cold they were not interested in moving whatso evever.

It wouldn't hurt..especially since th eswamp has water now..it was dry in August.
By the way..welcome to HNI
